Thousands of people a day travel the famous Coquihalla highway in Southwestern BC but how many of them are aware that the coquihalla river for which the highway is named was once a great producer of gold. Prospectors still find gold on its banks and on its tributaries. lacer gold. The coquihalla gets its gold from a serpentine belt that passes through the area. The serpentine belt starts near Siwash creek in the Fraser canyon. Which is also a very rich area for placer gold. The serpentine belt makes its way f from siwash in a large band traveling through Ladner creek which is how to the rich Caroline mines. The belt continues through Dewdney creek arena and over into the Sowaqua creek and finally over the mountains going down towards Manning park.

There are many hard rock gold locations on Dewdney creek. There is also a tributary that flows into Dewdney were you can find placer gold in good quality.
